pictures from cambridge/boston, massachusetts

Harvard Square. John F. Kennedy Avenue seemed geographically appropriate. I kept trying to figure out what cities Boston reminded me of. This square felt like New York City.
Recently updated, the Cambridge Public Library was a testament to modern aesthetics. Still, it felt quaint as I opened up my Kindle and continued reading Imbibe by David Wondrich.

I feel like you can tell a lot about a neighborhood's commercial health by the aesthetic appeal of the signs for non-chain stores. Even, sometimes, for their chain stores, as is the case in Freeport, ME where all buildings must be built with a similar Nor'easter style (consequently, their McDonald's has a unique charm).

Dinner tonight was at a Ritz-Carlton apartment. The view was spectacular. The only feature to change to truly make it breathe-taking would be to move the building to Chicago.

We walked about three miles from Cambridge to the Ritz-Carlton, during which we decided to stop off at a salon to get Mani-Pedi's. I was adventurous, and taking a hint from my older sister, decided to go with a sea foam green for my hands. I was surprised that I liked it, and continue to like it even now.

For desert, Katrina made a vary viable variation on pies that was vegan-accessible. Blend a large variety of nuts together to make the "crust," then add layers of sliced strawberries and puree'd dates and strawberry slush. Then freeze it. Worked out surprisingly well for a non-bake pie.
