NaNoWriMo is coming up again. I couldn't really think of anything to write about, but then it occurred to me (by being criticized) that my work is too realistic. Accordingly, I will try to do something involving magical realism. Right now I kind of want to write an allegory, if only because I put so much meaningless symbolism into everything I do, why not throw some into my writing as well? I've never done it before. It will be a challenge/fun, hopefully.
General plot... hmmm... so I definitely need one. Last time I started a novel without a plot, it was crap. A really long, very readable, piece of crap. I was reading Jules Verne's natural history tomb titled "Mysterious Island." It's long. It's also bad if you go into it looking for a novel. It's more like a highly detailed instructive piece about how to survive once you've found yourself on a deserted island with a small group of "heroes." I want to take the "opening scene" (I just woke up, I'm on a beach, I'm all alone, WTF?) and just run with it. Escapism. Although I'm worried that if I put too much symbolism into a deserted island I'll produce the plot of Lost. I guess it's good I haven't seen that show yet, then.
Groovy. I'm pretty excited. Cool.
Also, november is a pretty barren month for medical school responsibilities. We have an exam on the first of november, and then two full weeks off. I may write a fourth novel yet!
