So my mom brought up a good point: I should probably write my recipes down. I don't cook from recipes, I just make stuff. Sometimes that stuff is really good. So I guess rather than try to remember, I should just upload them to this blog, which is kind of like the cloud of my mind. Seriously, this blog should just be called "And also the kitchen sink of elora's mind." Or something like that. Probably catchier.
Well regardless, today I decided to dump some orange juice into a pan and see what happened. It smells good so I assume it will end up being decent.
Ingredients:
1 full onion
2 bell peppers (color not important, although yellow and orange seem more citrus-y than red or green)
1 cup of frozen shrimp
1 tbsp cumin seed
1 garlic clove
1/2 tbsp ground black pepper
2 oz=4tbsp=12tsp=60mL of orange juice
1 tbsp extra light olive oil
Directions:
Cut up onions, bell peppers, and garlic clove. I prefer giant chunks of bell peppers, and smaller slices of garlic. Onion is whatever I feel like.
Add onions to pan first with olive oil. Wait until onions become slightly translucent before adding bell peppers. Mix thoroughly for about five minutes at "simmering" heat.
Add cumin seed and black pepper. Mix thoroughly. Then add shrimp.
Once shrimp have begun to thaw a little bit, add garlic. Mix thoroughly.
Then add orange juice. Keep mixing periodically until orange juice appears a little thicker (about 5-10 minutes)
Then stop. Let cool. And eat.
Results:
Really, really, surprisingly delicious. I may even suggest adding more orange juice. Also, you might want it to sit a little longer and/or cut vegetables in smaller slices, since there are still some random bites of food that taste not like everything else. But despite the zany heterogeneity, this dinner is surprisingly delicious. So I'm giving it a 3.8/5 rating, with a 4/5 rating if preparation improves. (But I'm lazy so it won't)
