The sky had been playfully teasing us with the possibility of rain for the last several hours. It was now mid afternoon, and even the howler monkeys were becoming frustrated, screaming out uncharacteristically without the ubiquitous sounds of a multitude of raindrops hitting the countless biomass protrusions that one could call leaves, though that would do a disservice to what they really were, drawing an unfair comparison to the oak and the maple and even the pine leaves of temperate regions.
